Laboratory B is Burlington, Vermont’s premier member-supported hacker space.
We embrace the hacker ethos described by McKenzie Wark in A Hacker Manifesto.
Whatever code we hack, be it programming language, poetic language, math or music, curves or colourings, we create the possibility of new things entering the world. Not always great things, or even good things, but new things. In art, in science, in philosophy and culture, in any production of knowledge where data can be gathered, where information can be extracted from it, and where in that information new possibilities for the world are produced, there are hackers hacking the new out of the old.
Whether through code, art, science, or philosophy, we believe in the transformational power of creative ingenuity. We gather to create and real-ize possibilities. Visit us!
Lab B formed in the Fall of 2010 at the Burlington 2600 meeting, and have migrated to various locations around Burlington since then. Our physical space is now located upstairs at 12-22 North St in Burlington, VT, just a short walk from downtown.
Laboratory B members are interested in a wide variety of technologies and related issues. Projects range from cloud infrastructure and solar power, textiles and anti-surveillance fashion, transport technologies, and more! We are primarily sustained by member dues and labor (we have no paid staff), and community members may join as members via the nomination/sponsorship of an existing member.

We are incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of Vermont. As of September 2013, we also have federal 501(c)3 non-profit status (EIN: 45-3966737). Here is our GuideStar profile.

electronic place looking for hackerspaces to take their junk
Hello all,
What are your high hopes? What is the goal of this hacker space? There are some many different types out there. It would be great if you would list out some of the areas you would like this space/group to go into.
My son and I love to read the Maker Magazine, watch how it’s made, and take things apart. I have thought that it wold be great to have a local place for people to meet and share projects here in Burlington. I also may be able to help in building up gear.

Yes! There is a 2600 meeting on Friday the 6th in Burlington! We won’t get to move into our new space till the 15th though! I’ll email details!

whats a magic bin??
A magic bin is a bin where you put all your little odds and end spare parts. Nuts,bolts, that funny little flange thingy. Then when you need a nut/bolt funny little flange thingy you can look through the magic bin to see if one that will do the job is in there!
After seeing Sam this past weekend, it makes me want to move to Burlington! it’s hard to a maker in WRJ in the middle of nowhere/being a mom/working 40 hours a week. I need motivation! I want a magic box. Most of the boxes at home have toys in them, which aren’t terrible helpful when wanting to create things.
