Solarfest Recap..

On Sunday Aaron, Justin & Jesse headed down to Tinmouth, for Solarfest. Solarfest was billed as a blends  of art, education, and outreach to inspire conservation, promote renewable energy, and support sustainable communities. Laboratory B was their to support a maker presences with our learn to solder workshop.

While we were there we got to meet up with Jeff from Sparkfun.

IMAG0209We operated the soldering booth from 10-3 and afterwards were might hungry so on the way back we stopped at the Middlebury A&W for some burgers and floats.

In the coming weeks we have more soldering workshops to do, in St. Albans & the Centerpoint School. It’s going to be a hot summer!

Ruby the Hard Way Sessions

Join with new and experienced Ruby programmers in working through Ruby the Hard Way! This free to low cost way to learn about one of the most exciting dynamicreflective, general-purpose object-oriented programming language out there! These session will be scheduled regularly soon, but for tonight the jam starts at 6 PM at Laboratory B.

Getting Physical..

Hackers aren’t exactly known for there physical ability or fortitude. But in recent years a number of hacker types have started doing some pretty impressive, dare I say athletic achievements. Bruce Potter and the Cycle Override teams are about to kick off a a mega ride across the country. While I used to ride my bicycle a lot I can’t say I’m up for a ride of that length. Instead I did the Goruck Challenge, right here in Burlington Vt with a bunch of folks. 4 of them were from the local Crossfit box.

It was epic to say the least.

There is often a perception that hackers fit into a certain stereotype…it’s changing, just you watch.
